Seahawks Offensive Line 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago

Can anyone tell me who was our best offensive lineman for the 2009 season on our Seahawks team? Also, how come the NFL doesn't post O-line stats and the college ranks do? What I mean by stats are pancake blocks and sacks allowed per player, not just sacks total by team unit. I'm hearing that Rob Sims, Max Unger, and Ray willis were our solid 3, but who actually was our stand out? Walter Jones is wanting to come back as our starter if healthy, what do you guys think? Let him go or keep him? I personally think if healthy keep him and pick up a future LT in the draft. What about Sean Locklear and Chris Spencer? Sean Locklear was pretty solid at RT when Walter was healthy to man the LT spot. Do we put Locklear back at RT or keep Willis there? Chris Spencer is obviously a poor center, do we keep him as backup potential for center and guard or do we let him walk?

What is your criteria on beings a good o-line man? I saw your stats example for college, but what do you feel makes a person good at their position. The LT spot was a problem at the beginning of the year. When Locklear returned he sucked, but seems to play his spotty self. So at LT, I would say McIntosh played it the best, but we needed to know if Locklear was a long term solution. Sims did well at LG, but his durability always seems to be a question. Sims pass blocking and blitz pickup needs work. Not sure if it is the ZBS or Sims, to much change at LT and Center to tell. Spencer or Unger at Center, Unger appears to better at the position, but way to early to tell, since he only started a that poistion only a few times. Unger at RG, early in the season he was not very good, he got much better as the season wore on, then he changed to center. Spencer at RG, not enough games to tell. Willis at RT, I guess he would win as the best O-line men because he started and finished at that position. Got better as the season wore on, but you still can't tell with the change at RG. The right side (RG,RT) of the O-line was weak in the begining of the season but seemed to stabilize by mid-season.
Again, what criteria are you using to define the best? Versitility? Durability? running plays? pass plays? Pulling? Blocking? Understanding ZBS?

I think that our O line problems will be solved due to Gibbs being hired. I also don't think that we will be drafting an O-linemen in the draft. I believe that our best O linemen this season was Unger. but Sims showed real improvement as well.

I think Lock was the weakest lineman.Simms very good run blocking needs help when the blitz comes.Unger not too bad for a rook needs to get stronger but has the smarts to be a good center.Spencer could be a backup guard, keep Willis at LT.If I could dream I would take Bulaga and Iupati in the draft.

It will be interesting to see what happens this off season for the hawks. I just got done watching the NFL channel and Lombardi was talking about the new rules because of the CBA being canceled. I am really curious to see what moves the Hawks make to strengthen their line because of this. Walter Football.com has the Hawks taking LT from Iowa Brian Bulaga. All though I am not against this pick, I still think I want Charlie Brown instead. I mean who doesn't like that name! Plus the kid is going to come in to summer camp and already know the offense. He will just have to get used to Gibbs and his style. That is a huge advantage for any player. I know all of the Draft Niks are talking about how the hawks are going to take a massive linemen like Iupati. There is no way that he hawks are going to take any linemen like that. Gibbs can't work with a guy that is that large. This totally works in our favor though because we can use higher draft picks on skill positions, and get our linemen in the later rounds!
