Free Agency 2014 (3/13)

The Seahawks decided to mix things up by starting the day with a re-signing instead of a free agent defection.  Backup QB Tarvaris Jackson will be returning for 2014 on a one year, $1.25M contract with another $750k available through incentives (odds are he'll only earn that if he sees significant playing time under center).  It's a great deal for both sides — Jackson gets to stay where he feels wanted, and Seattle gets a reserve passer who knows their system inside and out for a cap hit that's only $395k above the veteran minimum.

In other Seattle-related news, Chris Clemons officially signed a four year deal with Jaguars for an undisclosed amount, Walter Thurmond is receiving interest from the Buccaneers and Redskins in addition to the Jaguars, and Brandon Browner is visiting both the Patriots and Redskins today.

To recap, here's what we know about the Seahawks' 2014 slate of free agents to date:

As before, I'll update throughout the day as news reports roll in.

UPDATE (12:20): Jermichael Finley left Seattle without a contract after his visit there, but that doesn't mean he won't be signed.  From the sound of things, the team may just be waiting to hear the full results of his physical to make sure his neck is sound before going forward with a deal.

Other than that, the only new development is that the Dolphins are also apparently making a push to land Walter Thurmond.  Good cornerbacks are tough to find, even ones with a long history of major injuries.

UPDATE (6:45): According to NFL.com's Ian Rapaport, the Seahawks are interested in re-signing Sidney Rice, presumably as a potential replacement for Golden Tate.  It's not a bad move, presuming they can get him for a decent price (and, y'know, he can stay healthy for once).

UPDATE (9:15): It would appear that Brandon Browner will be signing with the Patriots in the near future.  According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the only thing holding up the deal is trying to figure out how to work his four game suspension into the language of the contract.
