With the 75th overall pick, the Seahawks select…

…Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson.  ‘Fess up now, did any of you guess quarterback for this pick?

Wilson is an interesting choice.  He’s got a strong arm, he’s accurate, he makes good decisions, and he’s intelligent.  Normally you’d expect a guy with that kind of resume to go at the top of the first round, but Wilson is an inch shy of six feet tall, which is a deal breaker for many front offices.  Drafting him means we have a quarterback competition to look forward to when training camp begins.  Between Wilson, Matt Flynn, Tarvaris Jackson, and Josh Portis, the Seahawks currently have four QBs on the roster, so one of them is going to be cleaning out his locker this September.

UPDATE (7:17): As you can see from this highlight video, Wilson isn’t half bad as a runner, either (he ran a 4.55 forty at the combine).  Which raises an interesting question: did the Seahawks draft him to be a quarterback, or are they thinking about using him as a Kordell Stewart-type RB/WR who can also be a surprise passing threat?
