With the 15th Overall Pick, the Seahawks…

… select defensive end Bruce Irvin out of West Virginia.  Irvin is a very athletic pass-rusher with plenty of moves and technique.  Because of his small size (6’3″, 245 lbs) he struggles against the run, but he’ll probably be used to spell Clemons and sub in for Bryant on obvious passing downs.  Also, Mike Mayock sounds like he is deeply in love with Irvin, for whatever that’s worth.

You can see some of Irvin’s highlights here.  The kid is a QB-seeking missile.

UPDATE (7:30): Bruce Irvin just wrapped up his first Q&A session with the Seattle press, and he’s definitely not lacking for confidence.  Several times in the interview he mentioned his desire to win a Super Bowl with the Seahawks.  When asked about his play style, Irvin just replied, ” I love to eat quarterbacks.”  He also said that he accomplished what he did in college without much coaching directed his way, and he can’t wait to see what he can do once he gets some specific coaching from someone who “knows what he’s talking about.”

In the last half hour, I’ve heard Irvin being compared to Jevon “The Freak” Kearse, Aldon Smith, and Von Miller (that last one comes straight from the mouth of Pete Carroll).  This is a high-risk pick, high-reward pick, but the more I see and hear about him, the more I like the choice.
