Seahawks’ Newly Overhauled Quarterback Position

In a span of less than 12 hours, the quarterback position for your Seattle Seahawks has been completely overhauled. We started the day with only one quarterback under contract, but now have a grand total of five quarterbacks (technically) under contract, with none of them being Matt Hasselbeck. So.. what happened, and what does this all exactly mean?

The Seahawks’ front office began the day by signing two undrafted free agent quarterbacks, Josh Portis (California, PA) and Zac Lee (Nebraska); not a huge surprise that we signed a few quarterbacks here. But then things got interesting when Danny O’neill, of the Seattle Times, broke the news that free agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck would not be returning. An even bigger surprise came immediately afterward when we found out that the Seattle Seahawks had just signed Tarvaris Jackson. And then to cap off the crazy day, we find out that the Seahawks are currently negotiating a contract with Matt Leinart.

So what do we make of all this? To tell you the truth, I have no idea. What I do know is that unless we sign a bunch of outstanding free agents, we may be in for one long season boys and girls. What do you make of all this news? Feel free to sound off below.

Update: The Seahawks were not able to re-negotiate a contract with Matt Leinart after all, who decided to re-sign with the Houston Texans.
