Adam Schefter reported earlier today that RB Michael Bush will be in Seattle tomorrow to meet with the team. Bush has spent his entire career with the Raiders, who drafted him in 2007 even though he was still recovering from a nasty broken leg injury that caused him to miss most of his senior college season. He spent his entire rookie year on the Physically Unable to Play list, but for the past four seasons his workload has gradually increased. Last year, he had 256 carries for 977 yards and 7 touchdowns, plus 37 receptions for an additional 418 yards and a touchdown. Signing Bush would give the Seahawks a big, bruising runner to spell Lynch, which is something they were missing last season. Granted, he doesn’t run quite as hard as Lynch (who does?), but he is a more accomplished receiver than Beast Mode.
Schefter also announced in that same report that Colts TE Jacob Tamme has a free agent visit scheduled with the Seahawks. Tamme is a decent receiver with what sound to be minimal blocking skills. He had his best season in 2010, starting 8 games and catching 67 passes for 631 yards and 4 touchdowns. Between this and Visanthe Shiancoe’s visit, the Seahawks are clearly looking for a receiving tight end or two to bring in to camp this year to compete with backup TEs Cameron Morrah (decent receiver but hasn’t been asked to block much) and Anthony McCoy (a disappointment in both his blocking and receiving).
Also, backup tackle Jarriel King was arrested today in North Carolina on charges that he and another man took turns raping a young woman back in February. The Seahawks released King almost as soon as the arrest hit the news wire.
Updates will be added to this post as they come in.
UPDATE (12:50): Robert Gallery didn’t stay a free agent for long. According to Michael Lombardi, he signed with the Patriots today. At least, I think that’s what Lombardi was trying to say (I think he needs to get more sleep, he’s starting to sound kinda cranky).
