The good news:
Mike Williams returned to a full participant in Friday’s practice, but is still listed as “questionable” on the day’s injury report. He’ll test his injured foot again before game-time on Sunday before returning to action, but the outlook is looking better than expected.
The bad news:
John Carlson was limited in practice and is also questionable with a hip ailment. He’ll be a true game-time decision on Sunday. This might not be a terrible thing, given Carlson’s puzzling absence from the offense this season. At least 2nd TE Chris Baker found the end zone last week, so we have something going at that position.
DT Colin Cole and OG Chester Pitts are both listed as doubtful for Sunday, which is disheartening but not heartbreaking. The Panthers might have Jonathan Stewart back from injuries, but given their anemic passing attack, the Hawks should be able to comfortably stack the box to stop him. The QB carousel keeps shifting in Carolina. At the rate they’re going, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jeff George starting for them this week. (But it’ll probably be Jimmy Clausen, the next Jeff George.)
Also, Michael Robinson will finally be good to go for this weekend’s game, giving the ground attack a little bit more juice. Maybe we’ll find the red zone this week. (Do you hear me, Marshawn?!)
