Rams Coach Interviewed (Update: HIRED)

Mike Sando at ESPN.com is reporting here, and per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, that the Seahawks have interviewed Rams assistant offensive line coach Art Valero  for an unspecified job. Valero worked with Gus Bradley in Tampa Bay years ago. At this point no one is sure why he was interviewed and what position he could possibly have with the organization. Most of the Rams coaches that Steve Spagnuolo hired his first year have remained with the team.

Update: Sando just updated at ESPN with this:

“Valero was with the Bucs when new Seahawks offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates was there from 2002 to 2004. Bates was with the Broncos under head coach Mike Shanahan from 2006 through 2008. The Seahawks’ new offensive line coach, Alex Gibbs, was with Shanahan from 1995 through 2003.

That helps explain how adding Valero, possibly as assistant offensive line coach, could make sense for Seattle.”
