One has to wonder how much difference .07 seconds over a 40 yd distance makes on a 6 yd inside slant and rather an extra couple of inches of arm length makes up that difference. Seems to me quickness, play reading and acceleration might be greater assets to look for assuming one doesn't end up with a slug slow CB.

Schneider/Carroll seem bright enough to keep Josh Wilson around regardless of height. Dude's a stud.

I don't think it's so much the speed that matters. reaction time/quick hands , feet that's where you need speed.
Free Agent DB's who will be coveted by Schneider...possibly
written by Farmer Paul, January 25, 2010
CB Leigh Bodden from New England is 6'1 193lbs, 55 tackles and 5 Interceptions.
FS Nick Collins from Green Bay is 5'11 207lbs, 53 Tackles and 6 Interceptions.
SS Atari Bigby from Green Bay is 6'0 213lbs, 49 Tackles and 4 Interceptions.
Schneider may want rookie...

Could also mean they might target Haden even though he's just over 5'11". Robinson, Cox and Ghee could also be an option in the 2nd round.

Thank God! Finally, FO with sense. Doesnt mean you ignore a fabulously talented smaller player--just that you dont deliberately look for them.

Ruskell was quoted as saying the only common denominator on DB's who made it in the NFL was speed. Thus Kelly Jennings. Seriously, that always sounded like a guy with no clue shooting in the dark to me.

Green Bay has drafted many players I liked over the last coupe years, including Jordy Nelson. Maybe the Hawks can actually have a first round pick that excels--something Ruskell never had here.

I would love to see Bigby come here, the guy can really hit and doesnt get beaten deep too often. IF he doesnt break the bank. Collins maybe too. We'll see.

Just say "No" to Taylor Mays...the rest of our secondary isn't good enough to support Ken Hamlin II...

Tall recievers and cb's will always be a better option... as long as that player has awesome field vision... the two best cb's in this league both are physical off the line usually and have unbelievable vision... they always know where the ball is... always... the only cb the hawks have that is even halfway decent at that is Wilson, Trufant used to but after seeing him playing half assed this year bye bye... look at Revis and Asomougha, both have unbelievable awareness... with recievers alot of it depends on system, quarterback and team but I would take Andre Johnson over Wes Welker any day, same for Brandon Marshall or Larry Fitz

Mike Sando has a nice write-up on Schneider and Carroll, specifically touching on the personnel decisions they might go after. I missed the interview that Schneider had with Clayton this weekend, but Sando summarizes it nicely. Check it out.

The thing that will surely stick out to the Ruskell haters is that Schneider puts a premium on tall CBs and WRs. In fact, on the entire roster, the Packers have only one CB shorter than 6'0" (the Seahawks had precisely one CB on the roster last year -- Ken Lucas -- who was 6'0" or taller).

The average weight of the Packers roster CBs is 192.3 lbs and average height is 72.4 inches (aka, a hair over 6 feet). The Seahawks' average height was 70.67 inches or a hair under 5'11". Average weight is a little higher than the Packers -- 194. The Packers CBs are, on average, slower than the Hawks' guys: average 40 time of 4.47 vs 4.43 for the Hawks. That's misleading though: the top three depth spots for the Hawks all ran under a 4.40 forty-yard dash, whereas no one on the active roster of the Packers can lay that claim.

Here are the tables:
