Inactives include Golden Tate [Update]

The Seahawks have announced their inactives for the season premiere, and it does include one surprise:

  • WR Golden Tate
  • T Russell Okung
  • T Chester Pitts
  • G Evan Dietrich-Smith
  • TE Anthony McCoy
  • DE E.J. Wilson
  • CB Nate Ness
  • Kennard Cox
In case Pitts being inactive didn’t tip you off, Tyler “Troy” Polumbus is your starting left tackle, but Stacy Andrews could probably slide in if necessary. As for Tate, not sure if there’s an injury or he’s just less needed this week. Crisp route running is important, but a little surprised he’s not in the top 45.
Farnsworth clears it up:
Tate being inactive is not that big a surprise. All his snaps in practice came with the scout team that works against the Seahawks defense. After making impressive plays during the spring minicamps and training camp practices, the team’s second-round draft choice was not able to translate that into game-day production during the preseason games.
