Breaking: Branch Traded to NE

So uh, go ahead and ignore that post from 20 seconds ago.

Deion Branch has been traded to the New England Patriots for a 4th Round pick. No word on if there may be more compensation involved one way or the other, but a fourth round pick is excellent value for Branch! More as it develops…

Perspective: The Seahawks basically traded Deion Branch for Marshawn Lynch (fourth for fourth). That sounds pretty good, right? Well, yes, of course. You get a 24-year old two time pro-bowler for a 31-year old no-time pro-bowler. Not bad. But it gets better…

The second most-loathed personnel move in Tim Ruskell’s Seahawks career was trading the 2007 first round pick for Deion Branch. Yes, we gave up a first round pick — the #24 overall, as it turned out — for Deion Branch. There was no way we were ever going to get a first round pick back for Branch.

Until we did. By essentially swapping Marshawn Lynch for Deion Branch, the Seahawks did just that! The Seahawks picked up the #12 overall pick (Lynch) for the guy they traded the #24 overall pick for (Branch) in the 2007 NFL Draft. So, anyone know a place to get an oversized greeting card that says “You’re Friggin’ Awesome” for John Schneider? Anyone?
