First Half Wrap-up:
The Seahawks’ offense looked absolutely horrible in the first three possessions. That’s the bat news. The good news is, so what? The defense looked good enough — bend but don’t break — and got a few breaks to keep the score down. After falling behind 6-0, the offense stepped up and holy crap we seized the opportunity, something we would not have been able to do last year.
This team doesn’t look great. Its important to remember that. But they don’t need to look great. Week in, week out, they need to look better than their opponent each week. They haven’t looked better this week, but the score is 14-6 and all the momentum is on Seattle’s side. If the defense can force a three-and-out to start the second half, we’ll be in pretty good shape.
Um… wow. Can we have this team every week? The offense and defense both looked very good, bordering on dominant at times. The no-name defensive line has been so much more than we could have expected. Kelly Jennings was a very competent starter. Tyler Polumbus is still crappy. I’m not sure I’ve seen a team start out this bad and then become as dominant in a long time. Funny things happen in Week one, so lets not get ahead of ourselves here… but wow. What a Sunday….
