Seahawks Season effectively over. R-Rated thread.  E-mail

So, uh, we're terrible. I'm out to spend the rest of the day with my wife on our anniversary. Let this very bad, very injured, very uninspired Seahawks team rest in the same dirty hole that the 2008 squad sat in.

I was able to watch the first half and I must say, our secondary defense is painfully awful. I don't blame Trufant at all for those 2 PI penalties, but we are constantly way off on coverage. I'm very confused though. NFL.com stopped working and suddenly it went from 28-10 to 35-10. What happened?!!!

I just can't wait to hear Bill T. sugar coat this performance. And more importantly tell me I'm a bad Hawks fan because I can actually be objective about what's happening on the field. Should be a good read. Bad players, bad coaching, bad management = Bad Team. Someone please provide an argument as to why Ruskell should be back next year?
Pathetic!!!

What a bunch of pathetic PUSSIES!!! This team is a fucking embarresment to the NFL! I cannot believe an NFL team can be so utterly terrible. I now am now on the bandwagon of completely rebuilding the Seahawks starting with canning that dipshit GM Ruskell. Character players? How about stop bringing a bunch of pussies to Seattle to play (or better yet not play) for the Seahawks. Un-Fucking-Believable!!! See ya next year Hawks fans. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This coaching staff needs to be fired, Jim Mora and his buddies sucked dick in Atlanta and they continue to suck dick in Seattle. Knapp needs to go first, we should have no connection to the fucking Oakland Raiders. We have absolutely no rythem, pace or balance in this offense. Who the fuck are we? I know we don't have a line but jesus christ what is our offensive identity? Fuck this team, Fuck Jim Mora fuck Tim Ruskell. Sit Hasselbeck the rest of the year and watch the losses pile up and hopefully we will end up with a top 5 pick, and still have Denver's late first rounder since they seem like the real deal. This year is over, cut your losses and move on. Once again FUCK MORA!!!!!!!!!!!

I've waited a few years now to not rush to judgement and voice frustration but I've finally accepted the fact that it's not players or coaches anymore it's management..I think Ruskell believes that if he builds a D like the one Tampa had when they won the Super Bowl all the other parts of the team can just get by...we have potentially great skill players on O but the one thing he's neglected the most in comparison to his beloved D line is the O line...for as long as this game as been played and as long as it will be played O line will be make or break you..regardless of injuries is it just me or does it seem his positional overhauls every offseason or always one step behind?

Early this season I wrote that if we don't watch out that the Broncos pick wouldn't be better than ours. I was called a fair weathered fan. I am still here and I am still a a season ticket holder but I was right. This season has not worked out for us so far. We need to put time into our offense. Like O-line and running back. We don't need another D-end but I am sure we will draft one if Ruskell is still here. I like Mora keep him move to a different coodinator Knapp was a Radier that says it all. Its time to recyle some of these guys that are continuosly getting hurt. It's sad to see us struggle so bad. I would like to see Locker drafted to be ready for when Hasselbeck is done.

you made me laugh pretty good hawksnest. Which considering the fing cowboys just beat the Hawks is pretty impressive. Remain a fan. Be back next week win or lose. First half didn't go that bad until right before the half and three pi calls against Tru. Call me crazy, but after the 2nd, wouldn't the refs wonder if they should try to balance it out a bit. Or if there is mutual or receiver contact just make it a no-call? Whatever, either way, I liked Knapps calling overall in first half. Still trying to figure out what happened in 2nd half. Cowboys got hot I guess. Considering we were on the road against a good balanced offense, was impressed with how we started the game. Crazy thing is if the 9ers lose (I think they are almost over) and Cards lose we're still two games back in nfc west. Long uphill climb but crazier things have happened.

I love the Hawks. Keep your heads up. Anyone else getting sick of Housh showing his qb and team up publicly? At this point, Burleson is a more dangerous target. Hope he chills out.

Team is poorly conceived
written by kidder95, November 01, 2009
Good teams, like the Pats, scheme to their talent. Seattle forces scheme regardless of talent. It took Holmgren and Ted Thompson 5 years to build a winner. It took Ruskell 5 years to grind it to bits.

We are simply a team without talent. Tatupu does not give you a free pass.

Until Seattle fans realize that mediocrity is what we are building, they will continue to be disappointed. If you can accept mediocrity, this team is for you!

I will continue to watch, but only for the amusement, and the fact that I love football. And yes, I want Holmgren back. I'd rather have 3 HOF picks than 5 guys who we deem solid and re-sign able.

Unfortunately I only got to listen to the game. Check that, fortunately, I only got to listen to the game. If I had to watch that fucking thing I probably would have puked. No offense, no defense, no special teams, no coaching. We couldn't have fucked that up any more. What bullshit. I've been saying we need a little better OL, better rb. After today, I'm into the lets rebuild from bottom-up. Completely disgusting. Fuck Knapp. From the first play, you knew we were fucked. Dallas didn't want to let Jones gain one yard because of the way he left Dallas, yet we start the game with a Jones run up the middle? Just once, start with a play-action bomb to a WR. Hell I wouldn't care if it was Butler just running as fast as he could and see how far Matt can throw it. THIS SEASON FUCKING SUCKS LIKE LAST SEASON FUCKING SUCKED! Go hawks, but man, show some life against anybody not named the rams.

We need to go into complete rebuild mode. The most frustrating thing for me is that we have come out completely uninspired this season more games than not. Especially on the road. The players and staff are going through the motions and it is showing badly.

I know it's college but as a WSU alum I see a different story than what I see with the Hawks. Not only are the Cougs terrible but we are injured as well. The players, staff and fans all know it. But that team keeps competing for 60 minutes even when they are getting shelled each week. The complete opposite is going on with the Seahawks.

The Seahawks have some of, if not the best fans in the NFL. The uninspired performances are an embarrassment to the organization and especially the fans. The fans who spend a descent percentage of their salaries to give these players a life of luxury.

Like was said above, I questioned when we brought in a bunch of staff members from losing teams. It's not working. I'm not really sold on Mora but if he doesn't change up his staff in the offseason it is going to cost him his job. I think Ruskell will be gone. He tried to make us a replica of Tampa Bay and that has failed. We have regressed each and every season since he has been here.

I'm expecting wholesale changes next season with the management and the staff. We need toughness and fire. I enjoyed visiting the VMAC this summer but I think we need to go back to having training camp in Cheney. Make the players work hard, make them stay in the dorms. Build some damn toughness in this team. They look like players only looking to collect checks out there. Horrible.

I think we should fire Ruskell, Mora, Knapp, Bradley, Solari, and every other position coach and assistant coach. Then we should hang the water boy up by his balls and leave him in front of Quest field to rot and warn other Seattle hires of the perils of failing in Seattle.

Next, we should trade Trufant, Hill, Curry, Tatupu, Carlson, Hasselbeck, Unger, Burleson, Butler, Mebane, Lucas, Spencer, Sims, Jackson, Grant, Willis, and Housh for a fist full of draft picks. Release Hawthorne, JJones, James, Forsett, Schmitt, Griffth, Tapp, Kerney, Babinueax, Branch, Cole, Vallos, Williams, and Wrotto since they are scumbags who are making a shitload of money yet producing absolutely nothing on the field. Who wants players like these average and below average dirtbags?

With our 25 picks in next years draft, we need to draft every great looking running back and offensive lineman we can find and then a smattering of receivers, quarterbacks, and defensive players to fill in. Finally, with no salary cap next year, Paul Allen can maintain a half a billion dollar payroll and sign every good looking free agent out there outbidding everyone every time as well as paying for all our draft choices. Money is no object. Who could keep up?

Now, we sign Holmgren back as President, GM, Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Director of Player/Personnel and we're back in the saddle again. Let Mike hire some DC to run the defense (not important) since he doesn't want to be bothered with that pesky irritating detail and we'll be a great team again in oh, say, around 6 or 7 years or at least within a decade when Holmgren is in his mid-seventies.

Maybe we should just do it right and implode Quest field and talk Paul Allen into selling the team back to Bubba Behring to complete the job he started and move it back to California where we don't have to be so ashamed, sick, and totally longing to be unaffiliated with this stinking bunch of faggot front office personnel, coaches, and players. Actually, the buck stops with the owner not the GM and if Allen can't get with the program and fire all these losers why should we support him? He's as lame as everyone else connected with this totally worthless franchise.

Let's all do what some of the NBA fans have done and embrace a former rival as "our team" like they did with the Trailblazers after the town let the Sonics get ripped away without a fight. After all, they were a bunch of losers too just like the Seahawkls are. Let's just get rid of football too and kick those bastards out of town and just all pick another team to root for or just quit watching football. We can all pick a team at the first of the year kind of like a fantasy league and then we can all pick a winner every year and never have to be sad because our team has a down year or two or doesn't perform to our satisfaction. I love that idea. Who wants the Colts? How about the Bronco's? You could absolutely love the Vikings, Eagles, or Saints this year. Win almost every week. No heartbreak, no suffering.

That's the ticket. Screw Ruskell, Screw, Mora, Screw Bradley, Screw Hasselbeck, Screw Allen, Screw the Seahawks, and finally Screw Seattle!

What a plan.

Come on.. you know their not going to replace Mora after one season. And you don't like it but you know Russkel and Knap will both be back next year. I don't know what the answer is.. but coming into the season I knew the team had too many holes to make it the Superbowl. But I thought that they would be competitive. But more than F***ing anything I hoped that they would change the culture from a finesse team with a soft defense that can't run the ball and only throws two yard passes to a team that plays smash mouth football. I don't care what coaches or players are here next year, but whoever is here next year they better change the culture from a mentally soft team with no hart to a team that comes out and punches you in the jaw and doesn't stop punching you until it's time to shake hands after the game. I'm a hawks fan but this team is a shankapotomus.

This team isn't good, that's for sure. They're just not good enough to compete against the other team, the refs and themselves. They need to play mistake free football and catch a break or two, in order to compete.

I truly feel sorry for Has. He doesn't have many years left and I really don't see any hope for this team this year or next.

All that said. I'm still a fan. You'll be able to find me in front of my tv next weekend punishing myself yet again.

Next, we were sold on everyone being healthy after the completion of the OTA's (drink #2).. Opps..Trufant missing from practice (we looked at drink #3 but slugged it down anyway).. All the rest are raring to go, though Walt is having back spasms (drink #4) and... then it hits us. Crap we drank too much...

I think we're the same team we've been the last 4 years except for the SB year. We're good at home (AZ excluded because of absolutely no O line, Bear game should have been a win except for a couple bad calls and a crappy backup QB) and can't do shit on the road.

I'm sick and tired of the D, especially considering TR overhauled it and it still sucks. No pass rush except sell out blitzes, but more importantly, no collapsing the pocket...too easy to sit back there and throw on poor secondary.

Our SB team had Hutch/Jones and Tubbs, monsters on their respective lines. Until we have that, we're going nowhere fast.

We have too many good role players with no great players. Great players make others around them better. I'm not sure we have any truly great players. Hass is nothing without great protection, which is probably most QBs other than the elite. Lofa is average without a very good beefeater up front...he is too easily taken out. Tru is not a shutdown corner but paid like one. He was great when the pass rush was dominate...the one good year Kerney had here.

I thought we were only a few players away from being really good but I'm afraid I was wrong and that falls on TR. Bring in a new GM. Wasted year!

Criticism Is Warranted, Necessary
written by kidder95, November 01, 2009
Any person, doing any job, needs constructive criticism to improve. To think that all constructive criticism comes in the form of "Pick it up there, jolly oh!" is naive to the point of arrogance.

The Seattle Seahawk's play football for the fans. The fans pay the money to support the football team. So the fans get to criticize what they pay for.

I work for a big bank. We get criticized, and I get personally raked over the coals if something goes wrong. Why is it no alright for this to happen to a public entity like the Seahawks?

Those who see criticism as a form of bandwagon need to begin to realize that most critics are the most passionate. I hate the seahawks team right now. I hate their lack of direction, focus, vision, over irresponsibility in the form or arrogant pick protecting and good'ole boy hiring. But will I stop watching? Hell no. But I will stop watching if this continues; like I did in '94. why watch the inevitable?

Criticism is necessary. And you can be damned sure Ruskel et al reads this stuff.

Ticket Sales Are The Ultimate Judge
written by kidder95, November 02, 2009
If Todd Liewiski sees any drop in season ticket sales, or merchandise et al, parties over.

Atlanta and Miami had to do something to win their fanbase back. So they fired first year coaches and their GM's.

Seattle, if overall sales decline (Unless they use the economy as their crutch), will bang the gong on this travesty of a team and its leadership.

Right or wrong, money talks. Fans will come to see exciting competitive football. And unless you have an identity on defense like Ray Ray, you don't sell season tickets for the "West Coast Defense".

Offense is exciting; points are exciting. This is why Holmgren was a great hire. It is OK to suck as long as you start scoring points.

Fans may grumble when you lose to the Colts 42-34, but they sure will pay to see it.

The Tampa model of build a defense requires a Sapp, a great OLB, a great safety, and a rare Tampa 2 coach. And then it requires an offensive minded head coach to offset the expense of that defense.

Without Peyton Manning, the Colts tampa 2 fails. Without Brad Johnson's best year as a pro and John Gruden and Monte Kiffin as coaches, Tampa's tampa 2 fails.

I for one, will pay to watch points. I will pay to watch poor vision, design, management of a football team. I value my time too much.

And I am not alone.

Why did I say screw Allen? How could I say such a thing? Well, this is a what have you done for me lately league and if the GM, head coach, and coordinators are as bad as a lot of you guys make out, how can you be happy with an owner who doesn't clean out the rats nest and build a new foundation for a completely new contstruct? Either he's a big part of the problem because he's the only one who can make the changes you guys want or he doesn't read the situation as you do. I would hate an owner who ignored the problem just as much as you guys are claiming to hate the GM or coach who ignores problems. The buck really stops at Allen's desk not at Ruskell's feet as many would suggest. Ultimately, only Allen can change the front office dynamic of the Seahawks and effect the kinds of changes some of you are touting. If you're happy with Paul Allen, you should be happy with his decisions and support his choices to run the team.

I think there's very little chance anything changes in the front office as a result of Paul Allen this offseason and that means you either give the owner a vote of confidence and embrace his chosen management or you don't support Paul Allen because he's not doing what you think needs to be done to raise the level of play from the Seahawks. As someone pointed out, until the Seahawks aren't sold out, nothing will likely change much. Right now, they still have a sizeable waiting list for season tickets and the available single game tickets sell out in hours. From Allen's perspective, it's a very successful franchise.

I'm also amused at the ones who want to fire just Ruskell and Knapp and then bring in a new GM. That's exactly why Ruskell hasn't really had a chance for 5 years now as some like to claim. He was forced to keep Holmgren on as head coach whom by all accounts he didn't get along with. What kind of chance is that when you are forced to work in an adversarial relationship with your head coach? Now, if he doesn't succeed after a resonable period of time (more than a half a season) you can really say he had his chance working with his hand picked head coach.

The crowd who thinks we should hire a GM and tell him he has to work with Mora and Mora's hand picked staff and his schemes are looking at the possibility of a repeat of the Holmgren/Whitsitt model or the Ruskkell/Holmgren model. If you want a top flight GM like Parcels, or Holmgren to come back and try it again, you have to give them a clean slate and let them build the team and hire their own chosen people. That means pretty close to the situation I was jokingly referring to. Mora and staff gone. New head coach, coordinators, assistant and position coaches, new trainer, new water boy. Now the new coach will most likely have a certain player profile in mind to stock his team with. Traded players, released players, new free agents, and new schemes to be learned and mastered. Not a quick fix but potentially another half a decade proposition here in Seattle where no one has ever been able to turn this Seattle team into anything resembling a winner in under 5 years.

STFU Bill.

Your Ruskell's cock sucking is getting old.

Go make a blog of your own praising your man-loving ways instead of spewing your cum stained words here.

There is one major flaw in your argument. Under your so called terrible "model" the one where you say things were so bad with Holmgren and the Gm's in place, if you remember right those were some of the best years in Seahawks history!
why does every seattle team suck
