Keys to the Game – Week Ten

No one in their right mind would argue that the Seahawks season is on the line today. A win today and we’re not completely out of it; a loss and we’re just plain stinky. How do we pull it off? Here are my thoughts:

  • The short pass game. The Cardinals saw what we did last week to the lowly Lions. Expect the same uber-west coast approach again, and if we want to win, we have to pull it off. I think the Hawks need to get Deon Butler involved too, and what better person to receive a couple of screen passes than an Eddie Royal clone?
  • Hit Kurt Warner early and often. Remember that time when we said we needed to do this and then we tried to do this but then we didn’t do this? Yeah… me too. Failure to do it it this week results in the end of our season, so you’d better believe that we’re going to do everything we can to make it happen. Would we like to get pressure with our front four? Yes. Does that mean potentially throwing four DEs on the line again? Yes, it might, and I’m all about it if necessary. Make him HURT.
  • Sean Locklear. There was a time when the worst thing possible was for Sean Locklear to be starting at left tackle, but that time has passed and it is now a best case scenario. He needs to be on the top of his game today, as does the rest of the offensive line. Imagine what this team could be like if, instead of merely protecting the quarterback and praying for receptions, we actually had a running game we could count on. Will it happen today? No, probably not, but hopefully we can change things up a bit with Forsett and Rankin and get at least 100-120 yards on the ground. Pretty please?
  • Fitzgerald’s Knees. Break’em. Okay, not really, but lets keep him from the big play like we did before, yeah?
