Justin Forsett is active today and will split carries with Julius Jones. The Niners have a top-5 run defense going into this game, so the ground attack is going to need all the help it can get. Look for Louis Rankin to sneak in a few carries, if Greg Knapp decides to suddenly gain some semblance of adept play calling. Wait, did I say that out loud?
Other Seahawk inactives:
QB Mike Teel, LB D.D. Lewis, OG Mansfield Wrotto, DT Red Bryant, TE Cameron Morrah, OG Mike Gibson, DE Derek Walker, and DE Cory Redding.
However, the 49ers inactives include the following:
WR Isaac Bruce, QB Nate Davis, CB Nate Clements, OT Joe Staley, DL Kentwan Balmer, C Cody Wallace, DB Marcus Hudson, and LB Diyral Briggs.
The absence of Staley, Clements and Balmer obviously has the most impact for San Francisco and gives the Seahawks a little leverage in a few areas. While their run defense may be stout, the 49er secondary is nothing special, and the Seahawks have the tools to beat them downfield. It just depends on how they’re used when it matters today.
Kickoff is minutes away, and I’ll be updating today while Sullivan freezes his butt off in the stands. Go Hawks.
