Now through Feb. 26: NFL Scouting Combine, RCA Dome, Indianapolis
Feb. 28: Deadline for clubs to submit qualifying offers to their restricted free agents whose contracts have expired and for whom they wish to retain a right of first refusal/compensation
Deadline for clubs to submit offer of minimum salary to retain exclusive negotiating rights to their players who have fewer than three seasons of free agency credit and whose contracts have expired (exclusive-rights free agents)
Feb. 29: Veteran free agent signing period and trading period begins. At this point, all member teams must be under the league-mandated $116 million salary cap or be fined.
March 30-April 3: NFL annual meeting; Palm Beach, Fla.
April 1: NFL 2008 regular season schedule released
Mid-April: NFL 2008 preseason schedule released
April 15: Deadline for teams to submit offer sheets to restricted free agents
April 26-27: 73nd annual NFL selection meeting; Radio City Music Hall, New York City
May 3-4: Ravens rookie camp, Owings Mills team complex
May 19-21: NFL spring meeting; Buckhead, Ga.
Mid-May to early June: Ravens organized team activities
June 1: Tender deadline to unrestricted free agents. Also, first eligible day to release players for the purpose of ameliorating salary cap charges past the current year
July 6: Claiming period of 24 hours begins in waiver system
July 22 (or first scheduled day of first training camp, whichever is later): Free agent signing periods ends at 4 p.m. for transition free agents and unrestricted free agents to whom a June 1 tender was made. After this date and through 4 p.m. Nov. 15, the player’s old club has exclusive negotiating rights to these players.
July 27: Ravens training camp opens; McDaniel College, Westminster
Aug. 2-3: Hall of Fame Weekend
Aug. 3: Hall of Fame Game, Canton, Ohio: Washington Redskins vs. Indianapolis Colts
Aug. 5: Deadline for under-contract players to report to earn a season of free agency credit
Aug. 8: Unsigned rookies acquired in the draft that have not signed by this date may not be traded to another club in 2008
Aug. 8-10: First preseason weekend
Aug. 26: Roster cutdown deadline (4 p.m.); limit of 75 players
Aug. 30: Roster cutdown deadline (6 p.m.); limit of 53 players
Aug. 31: Eight-man practice squads may be established after 12 p.m.
Aug. 28-31: Final preseason weekend
Sept. 4-8: Kickoff weekend: 89th National Football League regular season begins
